Hello Lovely,

I hope you’re doing okay. I can’t believe we’re officially halfway through the year now that the summer solstice has been and gone. I don’t know about you, but June seems to have absolutely flown by!

The irony is that this letter is actually about slowing down and what June has quietly been teaching me about that... but I’m getting ahead of myself.

So, grab a cosy cup of something warm, take a moment to pause, and if you fancy it, use this as an opportunity to reflect and set your intentions for the month ahead.

Here’s how June went for me…

How was June?

It’s been a quiet month for me work wise, I’ve had no scenic work at all, which is pretty unusual as I always say that summer gets busier. Whilst my bank balance hasn’t loved this, my soul has! I feel like I’ve had a good mix of fun, rest and getting a few new projects started.

What went well?

  • A beautiful and inspiring holiday to Croatia, the landscape was simply stunning, if you get a chance to travel there GO! I had a fabulous time.

  • I returned to my sketchbook. I’ve made 8.5 paintings so far this month, one isn’t finished. I’m hoping to get that number up a little further by the end of the month, I’ll let you know how I get on.1

  • Making a start on my bursary project and having a plan for it feels so much lighter.

  • Doing big updates here on Substack as I’m part the My Beautiful Digital Magazine course with Claire Venus ✨which is so inspiring!

  • Getting to go and see Harry Styles at Wembley Stadium - such a fun night!

  • I’ve been asked to do an illustration project recently and I’m having a lot of fun with it - it’s a bit of a change for me but I like being open to new challenges.

What stalled?

  • Creating bigger artworks - I simply can’t do everything at once and getting back to my sketchbook felt more important.
